Application area, M.Sc. Computer Science

Students in the master's program in computer science have to pass modules in an application area with a total of 18ECTS. Instead of modules in an application area, it is also possible to make an application to the Board of Examiners to do an "interdisciplinary project". In that case, the student has to visit a course in the field of the project and pass an exam or/complete an assignment in the course.

Students in the master's program in applied computer science have the option to choose modules in an application area with a range of 6 or 12 ECTS.
You can select modules out of the following application areas:

  • Bioinformatics
  • Cognitive Science
  • Mathematics
  • Medicine
  • Microsystems Engineering
  • Physics
  • Psychology
  • Economics

The module requirements are set in detail by the relevant faculty. The individual modules in the different areas are included in the curricula.

Exam registration for the application area’s individual modules operates through the student online registration process. This excludes the application modules of the areas psychology and economics; for those areas, you have to register through the
registration form.
